World Series Ring Ceremony & More, Memorial Day Weekend

On this date last year, the Nats were 19-30…. And they went on to the World Series. Hopefully our season will turn in a positive direction, too! Stay tuned for news on what Little League is planning for later in 2020.

In the meantime:

  • The Nationals World Series Ring Ceremony is this Sunday at 7pm. Check it out on the MLB Network, MASN, or Nationals.com.
  • The Nationals also are debuting “Improbable,” a two-part documentary that will air on Nationals.com and MASN at 7pm Saturday and 5:30pm Sunday.
  • The Nats have been great to us over the years, and now they are helping those in our community affected by COVID-19. Make a tax-deductible donation to NATS4GOOD here: https://www.mlb.com/nationals/forms/give

Check out this series of training videos, created for us by members of the George Mason High School Baseball Team. Each week will focus on a couple of basic skills and drills for our FCKLL players.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the young men who created these videos for us – especially Jack and Peter Villa, who took the lead.

Take a look and see if you recognize some other familiar faces... More videos coming soon!

This Week's Resources, Coming Atcha from the Nats

This week’s resources come to you thanks to our awesome partners at the Washington Nationals.

To help families with continued learning, the Nats are sharing free, online activities for kids in grades 1-6. The activities are online at Nationals.com/community.

The Home and Away webpage includes a variety of resources, including:

Jr. Nationals Kids Club Fun Pages — featuring Nats Libs, word scrambles, trivia, and coloring pages for younger fans.

STEM Education Lessons — the first lesson, taught by Nationals Park PA announcer Jerome Hruska, teaches children how to measure their strike zone. Future topics will include Reaction Time, Elasticity, Sports Vision, Aerodynamics, and Angular Momentum.

Reading Resources — reading is more important now than ever. Fans can find reading activities, featuring Nationals pitchers Sean Doolittle and Aníbal Sánchez, in both English and Spanish.

Summer Slugger — in partnership with EVERFI, Major League Baseball’s Summer Slugger program, designed for fourth and fifth graders, was developed to combat summer learning loss during vacation months but is even more relevant for students now when they may struggle with knowledge retention due to school closures.
